Mr. Andrew Dowley


Having obtained his Medical degree in 1995 at Sheffield, England, Andrew went through basic then higher surgical training in Nottingham and qualified as an ENT specialist in 2007. Following this he did a further year Fellowship in Rhinology in Plymouth, then a Consultant post in Cheltenham and Gloucester. He moved to Hawke's Bay with his family in 2009 and has worked at Hastings Hospital and Royston Hospital since.

His area of interest and clinical expertise is Rhinology and Facial Plastics. This includes complex Septorhinoplasty, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Otoplasty and the treatment of facial Skin Cancer including major reconstructive surgery. He was Head of the ENT Department from 2014 to 2019 and has previously been Chair of the local skin cancer interest group. He is a member of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastics, the Australian and New Zealand Rhinological Society and the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeons. He regularly presents at meetings and conferences and has published a number of articles.

Anne Carr

Anne originally trained as a Registered Nurse at Waikato Hospital. She worked at Hastings Hospital for twenty years and spent the last eight years in the ENT clinic where she ran the the skin lesion service with Mr Andrew Dowley and other specialists.

Anne has also worked with Andrew Dowley at Royston Hospital for the past five years assisting with facial skin surgeries and has developed a great interest in this field. Anne has attended many melanoma and skin conferences, and has completed a Certificate in Dermoscopy through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

At Skin Clinic Hawke's Bay Anne assists with surgery, performs the post op wound care with follow up and manages the surgical side of the clinic. She is also available for doing full body skin checks and can refer patients on to Barry or Andy if surgery is required.
